Blacks and the Misunderstanding of Christianity
Blacks who believe Christianity is the white man's religion are those who have not given Christianity a chance as a religion. They, or some other, have convinced them that Christianity is a religion used by white people to thwart Blacks away from the true African Religions and gods. They believe that if they worship Christianity, they have become victims of the white man's plot to make Blacks a subservient people. Few, if any Blacks, who have experienced true Christianity in its core, have this view because they realize that if practiced correctly, Christianity is a powerful and spiritual tool in life. The problem is that whites have twisted Christianity to fit their own racist views of the world. This deters Blacks and other races from practicing Christianity because they cannot discern the truth from what is untrue or dig through the thick deception of Christianity and race. The current Black Christian also, has not experienced the true nature of Christianity because it is not being practiced in its true form today. It has become commercialized and materialized to the point that the power has no effect. The words of the Bible are being used, not to bring salvation to the soul, but to add substance to the pocket. Many church leaders have convinced Blacks that the Bible and God are to be used for prosperity and gain of substance instead of righteousness and faith. This has caused other Blacks to turn from Christianity because they see through the façade of prosperity preachers and want no parts of this secular religion. Both groups have sold themselves short on the teachings of the Bible and will miss the purpose totally if they are not guided down the correct road to salvation. No person wants to worship a god that cannot identify with all races or that protects and provides only for those who provide financially for the church or god. No Black person wants to be a part of a religion that promotes the savior as a white male without regard to the Black girl and or boy who they see everyday in their communities. Christian leaders in society along with the media have disheartened many people away from the concept of true Christianity because of stereotypes and pictures of a false god. There has been no effort to correct the distortion by white leaders and social figures because they have no knowledge of what true Christianity is themselves. If the practice of true Christianity is taught among the people, then it can reach more people and serve its purpose, to save souls and to protect them from the evils of this society, as well as heal them from deadly diseases, deliver then from destructive spirits, and save them from the destruction of this current world. Cutting through the hype and lies and getting to a logical view of salvation takes common sense, not an education. © 2005 by CR Hamilton
