The Religious Right Are Spiritually Dead
The politically correct term "compassionate Conservative" is nothing more than that, a term attached to a group of people out to establish some kind of charismatic identity. Conservative radio talk show host and the callers who support them constantly speak against abortion, homosexuality and other liberal agenda claiming the practices are unholy, yet when it comes to care for the poor, another concept their "white-boy portrayed" Jesus Christ preached about throughout the New Testament, they shed any attributes of Christianity. The reason they are like this (hypocritical) is because their doctrine of compassionate conservatism is built on the foundation of capitalism, which breeds greed, selfishness, and dispassion for the poor, more things Jesus preached against as being hazardous to true Christianity. In the case of the catastrophe of Katrina where it pertains to Black America, one of Black America's most loved and respected pastors, T.D. Jakes, should shoulder to shoulder with a "compassionate conservative," President Bush in a photo opt, and claim later in a personal interview that no one should start placing blame right away. Eventhough it is obvious to anyone with the brain God gave them to judge this catastrophe righteously. Understandable that the world was awaiting the rescue of thousands more from New Orleans before placing blame, but this Black man (T.D. Jakes) must have been asleep during the days when thousands of his own people were left for dead, a scene that brought tears and anger to the eyes and hearts of the majority of Blacks - and whites - in America. Not to say that he does not care, but the overall response to the event was not only spiritual and revealed the heart of this country, and an issue long avoided by society and the church - racism, but it was a message from God. Bishop Jakes was also revealed. He greedily sat in the seat of the religious right in this situation and no one has to ask why. It was because of the Faith-Based looting going on in the religious-political arena. Many religious right mega-church pastors are sharing in the prosperity of the country after their hard-hitting messages of fleeing poverty and blight and for Blacks to rise to the level of riches and godly inheritances. The problem with this is that when they (the pastors) and their congregations rose from the blight of poverty, they forgot what the Bible says about caring for the poor and sharing their plight. They preach hard and fast about Jesus NOT being poor and that he was rich, but at least Jesus had compassion, much more than what these so-called religious men are showing. Their doctrine of Jesus being rich is a lie and God will reveal that in due time just like he revealed the lies about American equality and equal opportunity. Think long and hard people, mega-church preachers, religious right evangelist and politicians along with all the Fox news affiliates and radio talk shows who lay claim to the belief and words of the Bible are religious, but religion is not spiritual-connectedness with God, religion is man-made worship and love of a god other than the true one, and their god is money, and what is the love of money...the root of all evil. © September 2005 by CR Hamilton
