AFRO IDEOLOGIES (GOP)
Here's a deep look into Republican ideology. Placed in the Black perspective, Blacks need to seriously ponder the moral values behind the Republican agenda and not be shortsighted by slanted and stereotypical views of race. It was only until the 1940's that Black voters swung to the Democratic side, before that Blacks were overwhelmingly Republican supporters, which was based on a moral foundation.

Below are brief analysis of the previous issues but from a Republican, or Conservative viewpoint.   See also the Democrat Ideology

The Republicans on:

1. Civil Rights 7. Gun Control
2. Affirmative Action 8. Health Care
3. Pro-Life 9. Government Political Financing
4. Birth Control10. The Death Penalty
5. The Environment11. Military Spending
6. Government Funded Programs12. Multiculturalism

Civil Rights

If you are looking in the Republican playbook for the Civil Rights section, it is not there. Civil Rights are not and never were an agenda for the Republicans, but this is not a bad thing. The problem is people are looking at the total Republican agenda from a Democratic perspective.

Democrat leaders have continuously pounded into the minds of its voters, especially Blacks, that Republicans are evil and insensitive people who care nothing about no one but "their own kind, " meaning white males. This theory is not very accurate. They do care but it is a tough-love thing. This means that, for instance, if you have a daughter and want her to learn responsibility, either you have to teach it to her or she has to learn the hard way. By teaching your daughter personal responsibility you are offering her the best advice possible for any situation and allowing her to choose on her own. Without persuasive deception or misleading scare tactics, you trust she will make the right decision on her own using her own God-given intellect.

Civil Rights offer an alternative to individual reason. It makes an excuse for the person thus stripping them of their own ability to decide or to choose. In the case of government policy, Civil Rights said that Blacks could not make it on their own and they needed special help, and this was so under the reign of Jim Crow, however, if the country were using its own ability to reason concerning human rights, there would have never been any need for Civil Rights. But this did not take away from the essence of individual ability and responsibility; in fact, it assisted in educating racist whites of their own failures in the area of human rights.

Republicans were not necessarily against Blacks having and succeeding in America before Civil Rights, they were simply blind to their own doctrine of human rights. Because they did not have the human ability to treat people fairly, written laws were needed that accomplish this for them. Now that whites have come to grips with their prejudices, they feel they do not need the laws, which is perfectly understandable. In other words, Racist government leaders have learned their lessons and would now like to have a second chance to prove themselves.

The problem is the Democrats continue needlessly and spitefully, remind America of the racist mentality and refuse to move into the future or let the Republicans live down the bad reputation. The ironic thing is, during the Civil Rights movement there were many Dixiecrats who opposed Civil Rights and Blacks in obtaining equality in America. The hypocrisy, the hypocrisy. Thus, it is safe to believe that the Democrats that have not learned a lesson in human rights because it is they who continue to imply that Blacks need special help.

Concerning women, veterans, gays, and children, Republican ideology stands the same; it is based on individual responsibility and ability. However, because Republican views are based on traditional Christian values, natural law determines these abilities and responsibilities. From a natural law perspective, there is a place in society for all people and by nature people live according to their own abilities and social platform.

This is not racist or old fashion nor is it a license from God for racial superiority or sexist behavior, and it does not mean that Blacks or women have a subservient place in society. It simply means that based on the most primal of human nature, people are people and life orders people into certain positions at any given time. How we behave in that position governs whether or not life will be good to us.

Affirmative Action

A hot topic in the news today is Affirmative Action and the Republican Party. If the Democrats could be silenced for a month and Republicans were able to give an account of their beliefs on Affirmative Action, the country - if using common sense - could possibly realize that the issue is not as bad as it seems.

From the mouth and mind of a young Black male - one of the most supposed affected citizens of Affirmative Action laws - comes this statement, " I don't need no one to give me a handout to help me get to where I'm going, I'll get there because God is on my side." This is a concept that Blacks need to have anyway.

Why defeat your own sense of achievement by allowing someone else to tight cast you as a helpless invilent? A person can achieve what they want if they are pointed in the right direction and given the right encouragement early on, but if they are told over and over that they need help and can not do it on their own, they will always seek that help somewhere and eventually blame others if they do not achieve their goals.

Yes, there are obstacle in the way of Black America in various areas on the road to success and these obstacle should be removed, but as a positive word to the Black person seeking success, these obstacles are not necessarily pointed at Black America but are actually obstacles created by a country without a clear view of justice and equality. Many people, of all races, suffer wrongs from a system of federal bureaucracies that seek nothing more than to capitalize from the backs and labors of the poor more than from the efforts of any particular race.

If Affirmative Action must be a law in America, it should be enforced not only for Blacks and women or other minorities, but also as a plan to equalize the playing field for the poor against the wiles of the rich. This is accomplishment.

Pro - Life

Conservative Republicans believe in Pro-Life, let the child live. If you believe that a child should have the right to life then you are conservative in this matter. As stated earlier, Conservative ideology has Christianity as a foundation. Not necessarily Christianity at that, but religion period, whether it be Christianity, Islam, Judaism, or Catholicism, a religious mind-set would naturally be against abortion and rather be pro-life.

Personal responsibility also comes into play in this issue because if responsible parents with strong religion convictions teach children how to wait and not trust in sexual expression, there would be no need to consider abortion and or birth control. A woman with strong religious convictions would quite naturally think responsibly before she commits to an act that could jeopardize her health and future. The issue of Pro-Life is one that should not become an issue if religion directed a person's views.

[TOP]

Birth Control

In conjunction with Pro-Life, the issue of birth control accompanied by safe sex being taught to schoolchildren is another hot issue. Many traditional family parents would rather teach their children about the facts of life without the help of the school system's liberal and free-sexual lifestyle views of sex, and love and marriage.

Birth control pills and other methods of birth control are not an option if the child is not sexually active. Thus, if the child is taught early on that sex is an expression of love between a husband and a wife, and they are left to reason with their own minds, many would believe and see it for what it really is; a chance to be productive and not destructive when deciding to practice the act that gives life.

The Environment

The problem here is that corporations complain that the government pushes too many regulations on them and too many fees, which raises the cost of overhead for many companies. If a company has limited capital, they have to make tough decisions concerning waste and environmental cleanliness.

The world needs oil to function; not just America, but all nations, and oil is a precious resource given to humankind to use wisely. We have devised a way to harness this resource and use it for civilization and survival but there are sacrifices we have to make in order for us to produce the energy we need.

Companies do all they can under current government regulations to clean up after themselves and have learned a lot about what not to do as well as what and how to do it. Land is needed so trees have to come down (and trees have a way of growing back if planted). Water is needed so the seas are channeled into resources. The forest, and seas are used by humanity to survive and the earth works side by side with us by doing its part in replenishing the resources.

However, if there are advocates that fight the production of natural resources and that restrict needed resources, there are bound to be conflict and consequences to follow. Consider California and the energy shortage. They have shortages because the advocates of the environment refuse to allow oil companies to drill for oil and to use the natural resources of the land. Advocates cry about the rights of animals and the protection of tress and how the Ozone layer is collapsing and global warming is killing us.

Scientifically, the crisis has been neither proven nor proven to be a crisis; we are simply in a political battle of fear and who can scare the public the best. Democrats say we will all die in 200 years if we do not save the earth and Republicans argue that we will all die in 20 years of we are not allowed to use the resources that earth has given us.

Government Funded Programs

Ahh, government spending and Republicans. They do not want to spend government money on programs that can be provided by state and community organizations. Though they will provide funding for those organizations through tax-exempt status, they do not want to directly give money to organizations and individuals without them first at least attempting to earn funds for themselves.

Spending more money on programs means spending less money on the economy. The Republican government would like to spend money to make money. The only thing wrong with this is that it requires time and patience, like a long-term investment. When people do not see a return on their money right away, some tend to get frustrated and pull out and go for the quick money schemes.

Republicans invest into the economy with forecast that will bring productivity in the future. It is like a person who wants a new coat but there are of course, only two ways to get it; first, they could save money, which may take time and self-discipline, or they could purchase it on credit, which leaves them with debt. The problem with Republican spending is that they borrow against themselves to invest in future projects, which tends to leave the illusion of a national deficit.

The Democrats capitalize on this illusion by proclaiming that Republican Administrations break the country and destroy the economy. However, once saving time has ended and the rewards begin to come, there is a Democratic Administration in office who claims responsibility. It is a vicious cycle that is totally misconstrued. Like Clinton and the prosperity of the 90's. Many will argue religiously that Clinton brought prosperity to the country at that time but the truth is, he reaped the timesaving policies of the Reagan Administration.

Though it seemed that the nation's economy was in turmoil during the Reagan Administration, it was experiencing a period of sowing, but by the time Clinton reached the office of the Presidency it was time to reap from the Reagan years. Many liberals (and sadly mistaken and disillusioned Blacks) supposed that Clinton had brought paradise to America when in fact it was only the fruits of the Reagan Administration coming to light.

Thus, cutting government programs as a Republican agenda is not actually taking from the poor but is a cog in the wheel of a productive economy for the future. When things are tight in your own home you have to cut spending by attending to the most urgent needs, yet at the same time planning for the future. The sacrifice is a small one to pay if the future is a part of your vision.

Gun Control

Here is a negative aspect of Conservatism that seems to hang around like a winter cold. Republican voters and people holding traditional values believe that every one has the right to protect themselves against intruders of either the criminal element in the community, to government monarchies, to foreign terrorist, and this is basically an understandable right. But guns in America are a catch 22. The more guns available, the higher the chance of violence in society.

On the flip side of this issue is the drug cartels and gangland activity in the nation, not to mention the violence in television that influences the minds of children and numb their brains against the acts of murder and death. Many children have been killed with the same gun that parents have a right to own as protection against criminal elements. The gun problem on America's city streets is rising every year; murder rates may go up and down and violent crimes may go up and down, but compared to other countries, America has the most gun violence in the world.

There must be laws restricting the sale and ownership privileges of guns. Potential gun owners should go through a course and strenuous training and psychological testing and evaluation before being allowed to own a gun. The person has nothing to worry about if they are not doing anything wrong, but this is not to say that person could not snap at work the week after the purchase. However, it could lessen the chances of gun violence more if made into policy.

Also, the streets should be swept and guns taken into custody by law officers, but without convictions if no crime has been committed. Homes of people from inner cities to affluent suburbs should be searched and guns should be seized if there is reasonable reason to believe that criminal activity is a possibility. In addition, law officers should also attend training courses that evaluate their psychological condition before allowing them to practice such measures; to be sure the officers are free of racial stereotypes.

Health Care

This is another area where Republicans fall short of reason. They believe that physicians should be able to practice in a free market and charge whatever they want for service and that pharmaceutical companies have a right to produce and market their products on the open market under the laws of capitalism. But Republicans do not seem to see that medical service is becoming extremely expensive and unaffordable to many lower-income people.

Their sensitivity in this issue is apparent and has tarnished their reputation in the eyes of the average voter and U. S. citizen. They should also realize that more government regulation should be forced unto pharmaceutical companies because of the dangerous drugs they are marketing and not for the purpose of collecting taxes, as in tobacco companies. Tobacco is dangerous and must be regulating but other drugs such as mental, physical, and other enhancement drugs being produced for consumers by these companies are also dangerous and have not been totally tested and proven safe by science.

All people should be able to get quality health care regardless of their income level. If this country continues to neglect this fact, what would make us any different from a country that collectively tortures their people? Simple understanding and compassion must reign in this area of social policy and no one should rest until there is justice.

[TOP]

Campaign Finance Reform

To Republicans? Who cares? There is no need for Campaign Finance reform because if a person has decided to run for office they should be able to supply money from their own sources or supporters instead of receiving money from the government. This is similar to a business paying union members to represent them to the people. It is a ridiculous issue and should be dropped.

Any Democrat that constantly proclaims that campaign finance reform is needed is not thinking about the people at all but about their own selves. This is the most self-centered issue on the ballots and no wonder Republicans do not support it. What does this issue actually do for the people?

[TOP]

The Death Penalty

True to its nature, the Republican Party believes that if someone is found guilty of a heinous crime such as murder, they should be executed just as the Bible says, and executed swiftly. For the religious souls out there, because the world is not of the church and under the Laws of the Old Testament, they are exempt from the graces of God.

This means that the world will be judged by the laws (of the commandments) as the Bible says, so if they practice the laws of the Commandments they should practice them fully and in obedience to the lawgiver. However, this concept only applies if the person under persecution is found guilty of murder beyond a reasonable doubt, but as stated earlier, here in America the justice system is so screwed up there is rarely a situation where anyone knows if the accused did it or not.

[TOP]

Military Spending

The Republicans shine at this one area. They understand that America the most powerful country in the world and have to be able to back it up. They spend on military resources and provide soldiers with the training and equipment they need to get the job done. There is no holding back on military spending.

They spend not only on resources, but also on intelligence (which raises serious questions as to its effectiveness), and on projects that put into place a plan of world dominance. Willing to talk peace as a first option, Republican leaders are reasonable people but with the finger on the trigger and their backs to the wall. To protect what they have at home they need more firepower than the enemy does and they need to know what the enemy is up to at all times.

Like a man protecting his family, so will the Republicans protect its borders. Money is no object and they will borrow against themselves to fill their shipping carts. No to say that this is the wisest thing to do in respects to the nations economy, but it does help the moral of the national and secure our borders from potential invaders. People should appreciate why Republicans spend on military resources instead of accusing them of breaking the country.

[TOP]

Multiculturalism

Multiculturalism is another issue not in the playbook of Republicans. The candidates do not even proclaim it as part of their campaign speech because to them it is not an issue. The country does not need lessons on how to assimilate across the races because they assume that they (the white race) will always, and indubitably be the primary race. Not to say that Republicans are blatant racist, subtle maybe, but not blatant.

The problem here is that Republican voters and ideologist are afraid to face up to the fact that there are other people in this country who can do what they have been doing for years. It is another lesson they will have to learn the hard way, like the Civil Rights lesson. They have to learn that if America is going to be the land of freedom then everyone has a right to that freedom and not just them.

Republican voters and extremist have to realize that people are people and life has a way of bringing about the path of least resisted. If it means that the traditional values fall and give way to a more liberal form of culture, then the Republicans will have to bend. If they refuse to accept the changes in American culture, then another upraising will happen and there will nothing to stop it.

Summary

Republicans have a bad reputation only because Democrats refuse to let up on the bashing. It is like the high school rumor that never seems to go away. What can a person do when another has launched an attack on their character and has the entire school believing the rumor? Each time the accused goes to clear their reputation, if any small incident happens and the rival catches wind of it, they snowball it into an ugly rumor that does more damage to the reputation.

The only thing Republicans can do to gain a respectable reputation is to recruit someone who can speak for them to the people they need to gain as supporters. They must continue to strive in the face of all misinformation and accusations from the Dems and they must attempt to walk the straight and narrow path.

Republicans seek to help people help themselves, by way of encouragement and opportunity. They seek to protect the rights of all people from domineering government entities that want to control people's personal lives. Small government as opposed to large government is the ideal Republican government. They do not want government to intrude into the personal lives of anyone simply because they live inside these borders.

When it comes to supporting the Republican Party, remember that they are the Party of Lincoln, who was responsible for the freeing of the slaves. Not that he was not a slave owner and did not believe personally that he was superior to any Black person, but he used the powers of the Presidential office to put into effect the freeing of an oppressed people.

Remember also that the Republican Party will offer you a job if they knew you would work hard at it, as they did during the great migration to the north after slavery. Not that they will not offer you the best pay or more than them, but they will give you a chance to work and refrain from government welfare and dependency.

Before voting, consider what traditional and moral values mean to you. There are two cultures in America today and a person must decide to which they will belong. As Black people in America, we need to seriously remember where our interests lie. Whether we should remain stagnant and dependant on a party who pretends to have our interest at heart or should we consider supporting a party that may not look like an ally but who seeks another chance at out support and who could possibly offer a long-term solution to our immediate problems.
