To some young persons of African ancestry, it may come as a surprise that Daddy King's family was enrolled in the Republican Party. On the other hand, Cong. Adam Clayton Powell Jr. was enrolled in the Democratic Party.

The difference was based on geographical and political philosophy. Immediately after the ratification of the Fifteenth Amendment, newly-freed Africans identified with the Party of Lincoln. Although Blacks had to free themselves, through armed combat on the battlefield, many of them, nonetheless, credited Lincoln with freeing them.

After the Tilden-Hayes Compromise of 1877, Blacks became introduced to Mutt and Jeff politics. Some Blacks in the North started toying with the Democratic Party. By the time of the FDR Administration, Blacks in the North had joined a coalition to advance the New Deal agenda.

Blacks in the South chose not to identify politically with Democrats like Strom Thurmond, Eugene Talmadge, Huey Long, Theodore Bilbo, Lester Maddox, George Wallace. No self-respecting Black person would seek membership in a political party, which exalts white supremacists. Thus, many Blacks in the South refused to enroll in the Democratic Party.

Today, Blacks in New York see no problem with being enrolled in the Democratic Party with the likes of Robert Abrams, Eliot Spitzer and Dov Hikind who recently endorsed Spitzer's gubernatorial bid. "Birds of a feather flock together." Hikind's record on racism is unambiguously clear.

Spitzer announced his support for a shoot-to-kill policy for Blacks and Latinos despite Tennessee v. Garner. The Supreme Court has enjoined law enforcement personnel from killing a fleeing felon. Spitzer adheres to the Dred Scott decision.

Neither "Black elected official" nor a nationally-prominent spokesperson denounced Spitzer who chastised State Sen. David Paterson for promoting a shoot-to-harm only policy. Paterson's proposed legislation is a red herring. He will end up endorsing racial genocide, however, and the Black masses will also be told to endorse this illegal policy.
