Affirmative Action: The Elitist Welfare Program

Addressing the issues of Affirmative Action could take us on a long, historical journey into the Civil Rights movement, the justice system, and race relations; however, Afromerica will skip the preliminaries and get right to the point. Attacking the subject purely from a racial perspective, Affirmative Action is merely an elitist government program that gives handouts to privileged Blacks who otherwise lack confidence in themselves, or what we know today as, the Uncle Tom consumed with self-hatred.

Do we not realize that the term self-hatred is one that describes elitist Blacks and not the masses? To prove this, we will analyze Affirmative Action. Taken from a mainstream definition, the basic concept of Affirmative Action is thus:

"Born of the civil rights movement three decades ago, affirmative action calls for minorities and women to be given special consideration in employment, education and contracting decisions.

Institutions with affirmative action policies generally set goals and timetables for increased diversity - and use recruitment, set-asides and preference as ways of achieving those goals.

In its modern form, affirmative action can call for an admissions officer faced with two similarly qualified applicants to choose the minority over the white, or for a manager to recruit and hire a qualified woman for a job instead of a man. Affirmative action decisions are generally not supposed to be based on quotas, nor are they supposed to give any preference to unqualified candidates. And they are not supposed to harm anyone through 'reverse discrimination.'"

Let us compare government welfare - where low-income Blacks receive payment assistance from the government each month - with the practice of Affirmative Action, where elitist Blacks receive employment and educational preference assistance from the government. Furthermore, let us reveal the duplicitous act of elitist Blacks who revile low-income Blacks for accepting government assistance in the first place, or their choice and or circumstances of lifestyle.

One thing learned from living among well-to-do Blacks is that they can be a vicious people once becoming owners of anything depicting the "American Dream." After they receive a piece, (or better yet crumb), of the so-called America pie, elitist Blacks suddenly develop a pseudo character of success that somehow deceives them into looking down on where they come from and the people they escaped.

Affirmative Action is deceptive that way. Little does many of those elitist Blacks know, however, that they were merely an addition to the realm of success not because of their hard work and wit, but because of what the laws of Affirmative Action demands employers and America institutions to do. Not only employers, but also schools of elitist descent, country clubs, neighborhoods and organizations that were at one time all white.

We all understand that Black people should be treated like human beings instead of property and second-class citizens, but realize that as long as white America is in power, Blacks will never be accepted. No law or government orders can make whites love Blacks anymore or any longer, nor give them the same opportunities that whites are born with. Knowing this fact saves a person from hating the fact that they are Black.

It is time to realize that Affirmative Action is a law that basically says Blacks can never do anything on their own so the government must help them by enacting laws, (as if laws [Jim Crow] are written in favor of Blacks). It is not because whites believe Blacks cannot attain anything because of racism, no, whites think Blacks cannot earn the things they earn and live the way they live because Blacks are not as intellectually superior as them.

This is the truth about Affirmative Action. If the government gives you money each month, it is because you cannot do for yourself enough to survive in society, not because you are a woman or because you are of a certain race. This is the same with Affirmative Action. It is enforced because Blacks are believed to be in need socially and intellectually, not because they are Black. If this were the case, whites would be admitting they are racist, which they will never do.

"But defenders of affirmative action say that the playing field is not level yet - and that granting modest advantages to minorities and women is more than fair, given hundreds of years of discrimination that benefited whites and men."

This issue is not a question of Blacks nor women being given an opportunity to get gain, it is an issue of whites facing the fact that they are racist in nature. Blacks and women are people, and any other minority or culture of people non-white, the fact that white men designed, structured, and completely rule America is the problem. It began with racism and the issue remains to be racism, not opportunity. When we face this fact and decide to build for our own selves a future, we, and no other group of people, will need assistance from the government.
