How shall we give thanks?
Rodney
Jesus weeps for Muhammad's children sacrificed on an altar consecrated to ego.
Mohammad's Priests teach of hate for David's children
Whose blood adorns their robes of praise.
Jewish Clerics building Gaza temples
Buying guns preparing the way for the new messiah.
Those calling upon the son of a Jew,
Crucified in the name of purity,
Sanctified in the blood of the martyrs.
Bombs falling on Fallujah,
Empty seats at the dinner table,
Graves dug in haste purchased with money for the poor.
Kiev's political harvest is wanting,
Democratic fronts in Ramallah prepares children to give thanks with grief.
Promises made in CôTE D'IVOIR distorted by diamonds,
De beers selling tomorrow's dreams.
Children of hope taught to plant seeds of destruction,
Despair sown on the winds of tomorrow.
Unless change brings a new harvest,
Tomorrow's thanks will be of blood.
Allah does not sleep,
Jehovah does not forget,
Jesus will not be an accomplice to our collective insanity,
Banality offered as a sacrifice of praise.
God attends no church, temple,
Or synagogue religion,
For amateurs,
Does not come with divine guarantees.
Our prayers,
Not in words but in actions,
Produce the seeds for the harvest to come.
Bombs or books,
Fields of graves or fields of dreams,
Tilted reflections against the tide of tomorrow -
How shall we give thanks?
