AFRO GIRLFRIEND
girlfriend (2K)Girlfriend
By Kecia

Girlfriend, as I talk to you, I can feel the expressions of your pain
I can sense that you're doing everything to keep from going insane

You try to be strong and that's okay, because as a woman that's our design
But we're treated less than civilized when we try to obtain a peace of mind

We hold so much on the inside because we want to maintain our pride
But the true feelings we have are not something that we should continue to hide

Girlfriend I feel your pain because I've walked a mile in your shoes
And from our conversations, that shouldn't be shocking news

We've laughed together, cried together, played together and shared together
We've managed to master all types of weather, that's why we can be called birds of a feather

We try to hold it down and prove to each other that we are strong
But admitting that we need help from time to time doesn't mean we're wrong

Pain is a virtue, we need it to sustain us in this thing we call life
It helps us to understand why there's so much envy and strife

You see girlfriend I feel your pain because I too have suffered the beat down of a broken heart
I too have been in situations that I should have let go of from the start
But never underestimate yourself or let anyone make you feel that you aren't smart

You're Gifted, Intelligent, Real, Loving, Forthcoming, Respectable, Intuitive, Energetic, Noteworthy and Determined
There's no need to pretend because you are truly all that girlfriend

Your presence alone commands the utmost respect so take a moment and begin to reflect
And don't feel bad when you have to check a brother because he's not coming correct

You're the ultimate queen and you will be blessed with that desirable king
But don't feel that you have to accept just any old thing, because it's really not about a diamond ring

Many women have tried but they can't top your style because everything you possess is in your smile
They don't understand that you're a queen from the Nile, that's why so many of them are in denial

I feel so blessed to have made your acquaintance you're a sister with so much class
Just always remember, you are truly a diamond and not a piece of worthless cut glass
