Star-Struck

To many people in America (and abroad) are star-struck. This means that they revere a certain movie star and cannot realistically distinguish the actor from the real person. AS an affect of television and movies, society has transformed into a virtual world and away from the real world.

People actually base their actions and reactions on what they believe their favorite star would do in a certain situation in a certain movie or television program. This condition has a tremendous affect on children (and many adults).

In addition, celebrities are treated by society (especially the media) as special, better, and relevant. This also, is an illusion that has corrupted this country. For example, celebrities who steal, do or sell drugs, or sleep around are not punished like you and I would be. Some are ridiculed but most are forgiven by society.
