Are Blacks Entertainment Tokens?

....or are we truly making strides? When Denzel and Hallie won the Oscars, was this just a symbol of tokenism, or are they really good performers. Should we praise commercialism like this? Are we being taken for fools and patted on the head like children because we complain?
