Don Imus: I Ain't Forgivin' and Forgettin': The Dec 3rd "Moment of Silence"By Min. Paul Scott For the record, I, vehemently, oppose Don Imus's 12/3 return to radio. Just because one Civil Rights leader may have given Imus his blessing does not mean that he's getting a pass from the other 38,699,999 black folks in this country.....[more]
In our struggle against Rappers and racist and their use of the N-word, let us not forget the many Black comedians who use the word continuously in their monologues, which lays guilt on the television stations that broadcast these mis-educated people, such as HBO, TV-One, and BET.....[more]
The "You know you ghetto when…" parody is getting old and is nothing more than stereotypical endorsement of the low-income Black community by elitist Blacks, which further degrades our character in this country. Therefore, Afromerica has proudly put together a list of attributes and characteristics that fit the lifestyles of the complete opposite of the ghettoite, the Uncle Tom, or Black intellectual, whichever came first. So here we go. You know you an Uncle Tom when......[more]
The mainstream media has chosen to play it safe where it pertains to giving Black America a voice. They are holding the old-head Civil Rights activist in the media light while suppressing the voices of the grassroots, nationalist, and cries of the oppressed. However, the stench of racism can never be suppressed.......[more]
My name is David Sylvester and I recently completed a charitable bicycle trip in Africa, riding over 7000 miles from Cairo, Egypt to Cape Town, South Africa. The trip made me the first and only African American to cross two continents on a bicycle. I have plenty of great and fascinating stories.......[more]
The gender issue in the Black community must be addressed openly and honestly because it is the Black male-female relationship that will determine the future of our existence as a people here in America and around the Diaspora........[more]
In the war on racial inequality in America, the logical thinker should seriously consider the root of racial discord, which would be the beliefs and actions of the people who deliberate race the most........[more]
After all of these years and all we have been through together, we think it's appropriate for us to show our gratitude for all you have done for us. We have chastised you, criticized you, punished you, and in some cases even apologized to you, but we have never formally nor publicly thanked you for your never-ending allegiance and support to our cause........[more]
One may kill you sooner or later while the other will keep some broke. Although neither is related, in minority areas, seeing someone with a Newport cigarette in their hand and a cell phone to their ear at the same time isn't unusual. But what's really unclear to Blacks is that cell phones are really necessary for them to stay connected to the community's social network. Though that doesn't mean they're able to function any better, it's actually used as a way to equate a cell phone to individuality.......[more]
Do you have the new Jordans? Do you have a Gucci purse? Do have a Sean John velour jogging suit? Are you rockin' Prada, Louis Vutton, Coach, and Armani Exchange? Are you a walking Advertisement?......[more]
I was listening to the radio the other day and I, as usual, was flipping the dial between radio stations. I started on the R&B / Hip Hop channel and ended up where I usually go- to the R & B only station. My reason is simple:...[more]
Let it be known and written that not all white people are bad people. All white people cannot and should not be categorized as racist or as children of the devil. There are many whites who have good hearts unaffected by social stereotypes and mainstream profiling and who truly possess the characteristics of compassion, understanding, and God-given intelligence. However, sifting these few out from under the umbrella of plain ole' white folks takes equivalent characteristics. In other words, it takes someone who knows the difference between good and evil to know which whites are good and which are not......[more]
Remember when we were in Africa sitting beneath the trees watching our children play happily on the plain when all of a sudden from off the shores and over the horizon here comes this white guy and a bunch of his friends. They had guns and whips and chains and sticks and piled us into their ships and brought us here? Remember that? We were minding our own business right......[more]
....or are we truly making strides? When Denzel and Hallie won the Oscars, was this just a symbol of tokenism, or are they really good performers. Should we praise commercialism like this? Are we being taken for fools and patted on the head like children because we complain? These are questions and concerns we will address and answer. Black leaders protest constantly about giving more recognition to Blacks in entertainment until Hollywood finally does something like give two "tokens" some awards. Is this what we want? Compromising our integrity for a moment of recognition and fame? NO!
