Welcome to Black life real and in color. No longer do I have to refer to the many colored, sometimes gray existence known as my life that includes single parenting, 9-5ing and the in-betweens that make up my rainbow. Instead, I can turn on a video or grab a magazine off the stands and read about these celebrities and these touted lifestyles that have now become this reality that is supposed to include me.......[more]
Controversially, more Black Americans believe the Hip Hop community has or is gaining a voice among society, both politically and socially. This means that at some point, the Hip Hop perspective will become the moral base of Black America. This thought is scary.......[more]
By the title of this article, some may believe this is just another of my "white bashing" works, but I assure you, things will come clear. Growing up during the do-wop era, I was always fascinated with the sound of my voice, resonating off the walls in the hallways. Like any controlled substance, Rap music is addictive, and it begins with a beat. Regardless of how upscale or sophisticated a person maybe, while walking on the street, riding in their car, or sitting at a desk, once absorbed into the beat and motions of the music, anyone may unconsciously find themselves tapping or rocking to that beat. More Blacks should listen to talk radio instead of the bump and grind played on urban radio stations. Talk radio offers knowledge into what is going on in the country and around the world. Though urban soul stations cover top stories, they do not go into opinion and what other people have to say about the topic as in-depth as talk shows. Urban radio host only touch on the issues and community opinions and not analyze them thoroughly. Talk radio host offer the public this opportunity.....[more]
