Five Questions on Buying a ComputerBuying a personal computer and acquiring Internet access can be a confusing task. There is an overwhelming and often confusing array of options - rebates, "free" PC offers and Internet "devices," to name just a few. With so many offers to choose from, it's important to understand what to look for. Here are five key questions to ask before purchasing a computer and signing up for Internet service: 2. Will it have everything I need? Remember, it is not a good deal if you have to pay extra for the essentials. Be sure to check that: the monitor is included; the system comes preloaded with current software; and the Internet service has strong connections in your local area. 3. Is it easy to purchase, setup and use? No matter how great an offer may appear, if it's overly complicated to buy, install or operate the computer system, you'll end up regretting it. You don't want to spend all of your time filling in forms, waiting for rebates or wading through confusing setup instructions. 4. Is technical support included? This is key for a great computer purchase. Make sure the offer includes easy-to-access member service through which you can get the answers to all of your questions - day or night. 5. Will it last and keep up with my needs? Technology evolves very quickly, so make sure that what you buy is not only the latest technology, but also has the capacity to be upgraded as technology changes.
