THE OPEN MIND

The Perplexity of an Unknown Alliance

America, is filled with migrants from all over the world, whose ancestors have had some disagreement or have fought against this country. Yet the most patriotic, with no ancestry discord against America, are still feeling the hatred and prejudice of being black.

But as much as blacks may complain about whites and the horrible things some do, hidden in their character, although not emotional, is a subtle respect. Even as I sit writing this, I can think of whites, which had some influence in my life. So this helps to balance my real feelings about the things they do to a level where I can do this with less criticism.

It's my opinion most blacks don't believe being a white person, is better. There are other reasons. Such as the reason why I feel black and whites are drawn together. Remember, during some of the worst times in this country's history, regardless if it was a war, economic circumstances or both sides at odds, dealing with the trials and tribulations of segregation, they have networked.

But the chance of whites admitting this, is to not believe their own arrogance wouldn't allow them to underplay it. Why should they admit, it was blacks more than any other race of people who stood by them during tough times? One thing they can't push aside is history during the most severe wars; blacks were steadfast and fought with pride, discarding their oppression.

Strange, but I personally wouldn't want to fight for anybody who's beating up on me. Maybe it's because they are some of the most forgiving people on earth, to other people. Conflict between blacks and whites is almost like sibling rivalry. Today, they're at odds, tomorrow all is forgiven. But more serious - and what seems to get more lack of concern, is no black anti-American underground group have ever taken up arms against this country.

Yet most have experienced more degrading things upon their lives, family and community than any group that have or may still threaten to do it. America has bullied blacks for decades, knowing in the true since of the word, they are hesitant to fight back. Black leaders who tried first, to develop a relationship with whites by diplomatic means, have been murdered, stigmatized and continuously cast out.

So hearing unrest amongst the most discontented, whites learned to move quickly. They often bring forth blacks, which show less concern, for certain issues of their people. Usually it's their social status, which gets them involved. But few understand that they are nothing more than pawns that will often end up fighting in behalf of whites in the media, which becomes ground zero; because many in the media feel as they do.

Unbeknownst to their involvement, they end up in the middle of the controversy, now as an arbitrating force. Immediately, the weight of the problem is removed from those who should be accountable and suddenly the conflict is between a black person and their own people. I feel there's something about to erupt in this country that will bring back old hatred and despair.

Probably, at a time when young people on both sides of the racial line should be seeing something better about the both of us. Unfortunately I must direct the blame towards whites because they rule and it's they who often change their demeanor when it pleases them.

So I conclude, if whites continue on this path, they will definitely end up becoming a minority. New immigrants we've been seeing lately, moving into the society, may cause whites to get less interest from blacks. They may join hands with them, to offer their years of expertise, to help them deal with circumstances of the racism and prejudice blacks have been going through. So for them I'll say this. Sometimes we don't know what we have, until it's gone.
