THE OPEN MIND

Antagonism Destroys Lives and Families
By T. Duffy

I guess some of the things that are happening in this country towards men are nothing more than karma. It's believed what you put out you get back, but regardless of reason, some men have not held up their end and it's impossible to single out those who should be given consideration.

But as a group, they are dealing with a profound vengeance from radicals who probably don't care if they're decent or not. Again, this is not to say they should be rewarded, since even with that threat some are still primarily shakers and movers.

But now there's a new opposition to face. There's a group of women today, short of wearing camouflage gear, who's determined to get themselves strategically in positions, to remove men from most aspects of their so-called dependency. But their campaign is destructive since it can and will destroy what has helped this country to sustain itself, [the family].

Unfortunately, this makes them no better than the men they seem to hate so passionately. But my greatest concern as a father and black man is how they steer some black women to follow. Yes it's an old complaint of mine, because it's still an important issue. So to be a little antagonistic, knowing this is also a sensitive issue, I'm willing to deal with some dialogue or anger from my black sister's. But looking as far back as I can remember, I can say the most damaging part of our lives is the lost of the family unit.

There have always been broken homes, but most children had someone, even out of the home that instilled something of value into their lives. The joke in many black neighborhoods - although a source of information - was the neighborhood drunk who made us kids tow the line.

When I hear black women today salute themselves as being single parents, it disturbs me. There shouldn't be a reason to be proud but it should open doors of concern to see what has caused it. Especially when I feel most are putting too much of their lives and their children's future to chance.

There's nothing perfect about any of us, so for any woman to expect men to not have some of the same shortcomings as many of them have, is preposterous. To be able to give life doesn't mean you're God like.

But looking from the human prospective, regardless of the religious or scientific debate about this subject, it's really the mindset of feminists who feel their lives are better without men. Don't forget, this generated the same attitude men used to keep women under their thumbs. But those who haven't been included in any dialogue are children.

Most important, it could answer the question for individuals who are still trying to determine why men aren't contributing something positive in their lives, but the real outcome of this, especially for so-called theorist, they would need less academics to understand why kids are so screwed up. Since the answer to their questions would come from those affected the most.

In a film call "Breaking the Silence/Children's Stories," shown on PBS dated October 20, 2005, some of the most uncanny and controversial things were spoken about, that would make most of us cringe. It was suppose to expose child abuse, custody battles and the parental alienation syndrome theory. Unfortunately, because of those who was behind the production, most of it was false and one sided. But there were people watching who cared.

Immediately it generated many, where some 4000 responses from viewers to PBS to express their anger. In fact it was so intense it caused social advocates like Glenn Sacks, a talk radio host to suggest another program, to balance the truth and fairness. With real success and personal efforts, it wasn't in vain.

Ken A. Bode, an Ombudsman of the Corp for Public Radio, have accepted PBS's agreement to make a new film. The fact is, abuse or domestic violence isn't only a stigma for males. Both sides are known to be guilty, although he usually becomes the Kodak star.

In an annotated bibliography, "Assaults by Women on their Spouses or Male Partners," dated May 24, 1997, complied by Martin S. Fiebert a psychologist and a few others of California State University Long Beach. They revealed the advocates in many cases were women. Considering their finding wasn't the results of unfairness being done from many areas, it states in many situations, women will provoke being hit because they will strike out first.

This alone, could change how we approach domestics failing that center around abuse. Of course I don't condone either, but the accusatory aspect of this seems to be necessary to help advocates reach their goal. So realizing how constant these insinuations are isn't difficult to believe there are other underline reasons.

If there's any woman who's willing to admit living a long life, will also include them in the problems of this society, they should also be willing to except why a sudden disappearance of men won't change those circumstances, although this subject will boil down to some anger or confrontation.

Women who may have hidden reasons for not expressing their feminist's conviction will still continue to offer their support. But those who seem to prefer independence will not only become an outcast, but could face some aggression from radicals also.

But there are women who often express their concerns more often. Judy Sheindlin [Judge Judy] has always expressed her feelings about domestic tranquility and the necessity of two parent homes. But others who usually get to the heart of the matter, such as Phyllis Schlafly, president and founder of the Eagle Forum a pro family think tank, she suggest there should be no support for the Violence Against Women Act, sponsored by Senator Biden a democrat from Delaware. Her concern is for the billions of dollars put into the hands of feminists by republicans who allow them to use the money to [preach anti-marriage and anti-male ideology].

She feels the money is being used to help corrupt the family courts and engage in liberal political advocacy. Her utmost criticism is the lack of accountability, which she says is suppose to be the watchword of the Bush administration.

To conclude, there is no epidemic of women or children being mistreated by men and the key word is epidemic. Although we may have read about it, seen it happen, or just realize it exists. But there's a virus with a composite of lying, contempt and hatred that cause people to mistreat each other. So here's a message for black women who believe they are doing the right thing.

When they were young and their parents told them to not get involved with someone who could get them in trouble, they may not have understood it meant anybody, but also as they move through their lives. So caution is warranted, since radical feminists have one agenda, and it's only for their purpose.
