THE VOICE OF MANKIND

Babangidaism
By Mankind Olawale Oyewumi

"I would rather lose in a cause that I know someday will triumph than to triumph in a cause that I know someday will fail." ----- Wendell. L. Willkie

Now in this column-class of bondless audience, I humbly introduce, as well as explain a new word, which coming linguists and lexicographers, philosophers and social scientists, etc., by virtue of their academic interest, may be interested in, and this is "Babangidaism".

Strangely as an opposing opposite of democracy, ancient African communalism, Marxian communism, the exceedingly socio-economically and politically priceless Samaformism I postulated as a humanist and as a satanic concept fabricated from the practices of strict fascism, totalitarianism and other robustly penelopic and ingratianous "isms", I coin another morally reproachable social tenet from the stinking name and base deeds of one of Nigeria's political fore-runners, general Ibrahim Babangida, and define it as a new socio-political ideology in which the inflated wisdom of the abundantly foolish is prodigally deployed to wreck a Nation's tomorrow; it is a system of government in which the worst mischief is disguised to deceive in the deliberate art of social destruction.

Better still, Babangidaism is a despicable political culture in which deceit; death and fraud form the nucleus of state policies. As an outstandingly deceptive and murderous style of governance, its adherents indulge in pretence to kill and rob their nations of essential attributes of a happy existence.

Advancing their false belief in God and pretentious submission to the injunctions of their respectable religions, Babangidaists rape social hope and mortgage clean chances of their countries' economic and political renaissance to registered misery manufacturers. They organize discussions and supervise consultations, falling back on lugubrious dynamism that stirs the masses' minds into approving their own penury and agony. Oh, Babangidaism is a fraud fuelled socio-political philosophy designed to drive man into destruction with his own stolen consent.

Babangidaists are fat horses of hindrances who equally pose as, and indeed play questionably active roles in true solutions. Doom is their dream and destruction their only drive of attaining it. Babangidaists' major attributes are kind cruelty, fine visions married to ugly intentions, unprincipled compromise with human and super-human agents of social dystopia, copious hypocrisy and renewed inner will to frequently improve upon the inhuman contents of their 'piety- compelled' exploitation.

In the name of God and political experience, Babangidaists hinder intelligent youths from political participation, murder their leaders and organize befitting burials for their fathers. They are distinguished infidels whose religiosity respects profits more than piety.

Babangidaists are hard to wipe off. Put a permanent end to one today; tomorrow, surprising number springs from the sewage-bin of evil linage he may have inspired before death. Write harangues and they plan global-based harambees in the name of people's well being, which they horridly embezzle. Babangidaists express the greatest concerns on the woeful state of their sovereign states while secretly rejoicing in their citizens' destitution. Babangidaist place no premium on honour, they are forever lasciviously scrambling for shame!

Remember Babangida's inaugural speech of 27th August 1985? In that maiden address, the brilliant mountebank alleged his co-destroyers of non-consultation and high handedness. Events eventually showed that he overthrew the Buhari/Idiagbon regimes, not because he had any vision to truly assist Nigerians, but because the formula designed by his superiors, on which our resources looting must follow were unfavourable, and so unacceptable to him. He wanted to, like bees on the combs of honey, perch on to power forever, but Buhari and Idiagbon, though also untrustworthy, would not easily give in to his vain dreams. So he recruited recondite and robots to end a regime that impeded his moves.

He used an appealing tactic to achieve his grotesque goals by demonstrating that we were significant in the control of our Nation and resources while ensuring that our collective significance remained less than his deleterious will in all matters of national advancement.

IBB, did not alienate us. He got us involved in official thieving and made us have a say in the systemic vandalisation of our future as a Nation. He inspired Nigerians to believe in bribery and to regard corruption and evil realism as the corner stones of a Nation's development. As a leader bread by moral monsters, he worked on our collective psychology to convey a fat fraction of our country's upliftment-faith away to wastage.

"We do not intend to have all the answers to the questions which our present problems have put before our nation. We have come with the strongest determination to create an atmosphere in which positive efforts shall be given the necessary support for lasting solutions", were IBB's words in the eleventh paragraph of his August 27th, 1985 address. Shunning his promises, he charred collective solution by thinking nothing of our stability and posterity but regarded buccaneers to engineer Nigeria the worst political nightmare in history!

Like other politicians whose names and deeds have given niches in Babangidaist ideology, IBB's social sins are limitless, from financial crimes, gross Human Rights abuse to suicide, genocide and National promise murder, etc. Yet, he relies on the money he had stolen, which Obasanjo's strict but selective corruption crusade, which makes it futile and facile, dare not campaign against, to insist he must continue the work of plundering Nigeria as from 2007.

If this delectable abbadon will not run away like his predecessor for presidential debates, I will like to contest for the purpose of engaging him in serious pre-election talks.

Fellow Nigerians, it is crystal clear that our future as a Nation is in the cruel, immoral and ungodly hands of Babangidiasts. These are men and women with all possible facilities and vices to wreck our existence. We must insist against their plans and support vividly visionary patriots whose programmes discontinue the enduring legacy of political traitors.

Surprisingly, fellow Nigerians with enviable wealth of paranoid myopia and visionlessness are also their campaigners. Join the following electronic fora to explore the easy abode of desired socio-economic and political change in change in Nigeria:
