Dan HardmanAfromerica Columnist Born and raised in a traditional Christian home, I taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, was an usher, and as expected, became a minister. I served in the pulpit for over seven years. Church was everything to me. I loved being a servant, yet I knew something was missing. I will relay to you what I have tried to relay to those closest to me, and that is I did not leave God, I left an organization that I believed was no longer focused on God or the people it was designed to serve. The choice was mine, and it was the right one for me. I have never known anything like the life I live now. I started this column because I think it's way past time we as Black Americans entered the arena of written/verbal positive self-assertion to propel ourselves forward into the future which promises to bring unheard of changes, upheavals, revelations, and reprisals. Brother Hardman is also a regular contributer to The Black Market web portal and owner of EDIncorporated.
